asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what is the total output and value of raw cotton from Uganda; and what was the proportion of native-grown cotton for the year 1920 and for the last year for which complete returns are available?

Mr. AMERY

The total amount of raw cotton exported from Uganda in the year 1928 was 553,944 centals—or 138,486 bales of 400 lbs.—the value of which was £2,475,328. The areas under cotton in the year 1920 were:
