§ Mr. HARRISasked the Minister of Health, what are the regulations governing the organisation of relief works organised by Poor Law guardians?
§ Mr. GREENWOODThe organisation of relief work is not, generally speaking, a matter for boards of guardians but for the sanitary authorities. In so far as guardians may be in a position to institute works of this kind, they are in the same position in relation to the Unemployment Grants Committee as a sanitary authority and no special regulations apply to them. If, however, the hon. Member is referring to the requirement of the performance of a task as a condition of the receipt of out-door relief the only regulations are those contained in Article XI of the Relief Regulation Order, 1911, of which I am sending him a copy.
