§ Mr. SIMMONSasked the Minister of Health if he is aware that some of the proposed new Poor Law areas, made necessary by the transfer of the work of the boards of guardians, necessitate applicants for relief travelling long distances; and if he will bring pressure to bear upon local authorities with the object of eradicating this cause of complaint?
§ Mr. GREENWOODI am not aware that the proposed alterations in the Poor Law areas are likely to involve any such change in the arrangements for dealing with applications for relief as will lead to the difficulty suggested by my hon. Friend and I do not think therefore that it is necessary to take any action on this matter.
