§ Mr. LAWSONThe total number of permits issued in respect of German subjects, described as teachers, as between 1st September, 1928, and 30th June, 1929, was 15. In addition, four German subjects permitted to land as students, etc., were subsequently allowed to take up teaching work. A Ministry of Labour permit is not necessary in the case of an alien desiring to enter the country solely for the purpose of learning the English language.
