TREVELYANI am unable to state the average cost of instruction in public elementary schools of the central school type, as the accounts submitted by the local education authorities do not show separately the maintenance cost of individual schools. Particulars of the cost per pupil in secondary schools maintained by local education authorities are given on page 13 of the Memorandum on the Board of Education Estimates for 1929 [Cmd. 3275], of which I am sending the hon. Member a copy.
