EVANSasked the Minister of Labour if his attention has been drawn to the inadequate waiting accommodation for men at the Cardiff Employment Exchange; if he will cause an adequate shelter to be erected over the pavement to protect the men from the rain whilst waiting to register or, alternatively, will he arrange for a temporary hutment to be erected in the rear of the Employment Exchange for this purpose?
§ Sir A. STEEL-MAITLANDI am aware of the fact that the present temporary Employment Exchange accommodation in Cardiff is not satisfactory, and it is intended to provide improved permanent accommodation as soon as possible. There is, however, no necessity for men to wait outside the present premises if the timing system in force is observed. In view of this fact and of the temporary nature of the present premises, I cannot adopt my hon. and gallant Friend's proposals.
