§ Mr. DAYasked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware that the staircase exit at the Aldwych tube station has a locked gate, preventing the public from using it, and the only means of exit is by the lift, which is also used as a booking office, and would cause danger to life in case of emergency; and will he take steps to have this staircase exit made immediately available to the public?
§ Colonel ASHLEYI am informed that the gate at the top of the emergency stairs at this station is not locked but1800W opens outwards only. There is, therefore, nothing to prevent passengers from using the stairs for exit purposes.
