HC Deb 04 February 1929 vol 224 cc1417-8W
Mr. GARDNER

asked the Home Secretary whether he is aware that 21,000 hours overtime have been worked in the prison department in the course of a single year without payment of any kind; and whether in the forthcoming Estimates provision has been made for additional clerical staff to obviate this?

Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS

I would refer the hon. Member to my answer to a similar question which I gave on 13th December last. The position has not changed since then, and I have not thought it necessary to ask for any additional clerical staff for 1929.
