HC Deb 04 February 1929 vol 224 cc1410-1W
Mr. W. THORNE

asked the Minister of Labour the reasons why the full amount of contributions paid by Mr. Andrew Forbes, of the South Western Hospital, Metropolitan Asylums Board, Landor Road, Stockwell, S.W. 9, who was erroneously insured under the Unemployment Insurance Acts, 1920 to 1927, were not returned to him?

Mr. BETTERTON

On 15th July, 1927, Mr. Forbes claimed through his employers a refund of contributions in respect of the period 8th November, 1920, to 28th February, 1927. The regulations do not allow a refund to be made of any contribution paid more than six years before the date on which application for its return is made in the prescribed form, and the amount refunded to Mr. Forbes was reduced by 12s. 6d. accord- ingly. A further sum of £1 14s. 5d. was deducted as being the amount already refunded to Mr. Forbes under the provisions of Section 9 of the Unemployment Insurance (No. 2) Act, 1924.
