Mr. BLINDELLasked the Postmaster-General whether it is on his instructions that £24 is being demanded as deposit for an election circuit connecting a telephone for use at committee rooms and similar offices during the election; and, if so, will he consider whether this amount could be substantially reduced without risk of public loss?
§ Viscount WOLMERThe deposit required is based, as in other telephone agreements, on the estimated user, and accordingly varies in different cases. I do not think that exceptional treatment can properly be accorded to any particular class of circuit. I am not aware of the particular case referred to by the hon. Member, but, if he will give me the details, I shall be pleased to inquire into it.
