§ Mr. A. R. KENNEDYasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he can give figures showing the reduction, if any, in the number of bankruptcy petitions and applications for summary judgment issued at the instance of moneylenders since the Moneylenders Act, 1927, came into force?
§ The ATTORNEY-GENERALI have been asked to reply. I am informed that it is not possible to furnish the hon. Member with the desired information. Statistics for the year 1928, upon the first day of which the Moneylenders Act, 1927, came into operation, are not yet available. When available they will not furnish the information asked for, part of which could only be collected with great trouble and some expense, and part of which could not be collected by any means.
