HC Deb 26 November 1928 vol 223 c50W
Mr. DAY

asked the Minister of Health whether his attention has been called to the fact that the spread of infectious diseases among the working classes is mainly due to the shortage of housing accommodation and the lack of proper sanitary conveniences; and will he consider setting up an inquiry to investigate this question?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

No, Sir. It is, of course, well known that overcrowding and deficient sanitary accommodation contribute to the spread of certain infectious diseases, and there appears to be no need for further inquiry on this subject.
