HC Deb 29 March 1928 vol 215 c1351W
Sir C. MORRISON-BELL

asked the Minister of Transport the mileage of roads in Devonshire, under the different schedules, which are in receipt of assistance from the Road Improvement Fund; the funds allocated in each case in 1927; and the mileage of country roads in the county which, also in 1927, were accepted as coming under Schedule II?

Colonel ASHLEY

The following is the mileage for the year 1927–28 of classified and scheduled roads in Devonshire:

Miles.
Class I roads 667
Class II roads 462
"Scheduled" roads 1,734

All of these receive grants, at their appropriate percentages, from the Road Fund. There is no category of roads described as Schedule II. Figures are not yet available of the total grants made during the financial year ending 31st March, 1928. My hon. Friend will find the figures for the previous year in Appendix I to the Report on the Administration of the Road Fund for the year 1926–27.
