asked the President of the Board of Trade (1) the number and the value of British and United States motor cars, respectively, imported into the Argentine during 1927;

(2) the number and value of British and United States omnibuses and lorries, respectively, imported into the Argentine during 1927?

The official Argentine accounts in which the particulars of imports during 1927, specified in the question, are shown, are not yet available. The numbers of complete motor vehicles and of chassis recorded in the United Kingdom and United States accounts as exported from those countries to the Argentine in 1927 were as follow (motor cycles not being included):

The exports from the United Kingdom included 177 touring cars valued at £63,489 and 29 commercial vehicles valued at £6,510. The exports from the United States, which are exclusive of electrically driven vehicles, included 34,245 passenger cars and chassis for such cars, valued in all at £4,389,000, and 10,554 motor trucks and omnibuses and chassis for such vehicles, valued in all at £1,489,000. The chassis exported in 1927 from the United Kingdom cannot be assigned to the two classes of motor vehicles distinguished above.
