HC Deb 21 June 1928 vol 218 cc1789-90W
Mr. AMMON

asked the Minister of Transport whether he has received any complaints relative to the charges for electrical energy made by the Electrical Distribution of North Wales and District, Limited, in the Haslington area of Cheshire whether he is aware that such existing scale of charges inflicts hardship on those unable to pay the subscription terms laid down by the existing Order; and whether he will take action to secure a revision of the present charges and conditions upon the expiration of such existing Order?

Colonel ASHLEY

I have received one such complaint. The existing scales of maximum charges are prescribed by an Order approved by Parliament in December, 1926, and I have no power to entertain applications for the revision of these charges until December, 1929. The question whether the present maximum charges should then be revised must depend upon the circumstances of the time.
