HC Deb 02 July 1928 vol 219 c988W
Mr. TASKER

asked the Minister of Health the date when the referees were selected under Section 29 (2) of the Old Age Pensions Act, 1925; how many meetings have been held since their appointment; and the date of their last meeting?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

Three referees were appointed in January, 1926, one of whom resigned in February, 1927; eight additional referees were appointed in April, 1927, one of whom recently resigned. It is the practice for the referees to sit in panels of two, and while it is not possible to give the total number of meetings since the date of commencement of the Act, it may be stated that during the last six months the number of meetings has averaged 14 a week. In the current week 14 meetings have been held, including three meetings at which hearings took place in the provinces.
