HC Deb 18 December 1928 vol 223 c2837W
Mr. SHEPHERD

asked the Minister of Health whether he will inquire into the treatment of casuals at Cannock where three men last month were sentenced to seven days' imprisonment each for refusing to perform their tasks as their only means of protest against their treatment with regard to feeding and sleeping?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

I have made inquiries into this case and am satisfied that these men had no reasonable cause for complaint and were properly treated by the Poor Law officials of the Cannock institution.
