HC Deb 12 December 1928 vol 223 cc2135-6W
Mr. W. THORNE

asked the Secretary for Mines the amount of the grant from public funds allocated to the Greenwich fuel-research department of the South Metropolitan Gas Company?

Commodore KING

I presume that the hon. Member is referring to the Fuel Research Station of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research. The only connection between the station and the South Metropolitan Gas Company is that the former is situated at Greenwich on land leased to the Government by the Company. The estimated net expenditure from public funds at the Fuel Research Station during the current financial year is £54,000.
