HC Deb 23 April 1928 vol 216 cc639-40W
Sir R. THOMAS

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether his attention has been drawn to the claims put forward on behalf of the remedy known as Bayer 205 as a cure for sleepy sickness; and whether any tests of it are being made in the African Dependencies of the Crown?

Mr. AMERY

It is understood that my bon. Friend's reference is to sleeping sickness (trypanosomiasis) not to sleepy sickness (encephalitis lethargica). Extensive tests of this drug, as well as of others, have been made in the control of sleeping sickness in the African Dependencies for some years past.
