§ Mr. NAYLORasked the Minister of Health how many statutory joint vagrancy committees have been set up in England and Wales; how many of these have been established during the past 12 months; and whether in practice they have been found to give beneficial results?
Mr. CHAMBERLAINSixteen statutory vagrancy committees covering 29 administrative counties in England and Wales have already been set up; two of these were constituted in 1927, and proposals to form two more are now under consideration; the work carried out by these committees is of great assistance in securing an improved standard in the administration of relief to casuals.
