HC Deb 05 April 1928 vol 215 cc2155-6W
Sir H. BRITTAIN

asked the Postmaster-General whether any special effort is being made to repair the cable broken during a storm in December last between Guernsey and Sark and Guernsey and Alderney; when the telegraph service between these islands is likely to be renewed; and, in view of the inconvenience to the inhabitants, whether he will consider the advisability of using the regular daily service of motor boats to replace the bi-weekly delivery of telegrams which is at present in operation?

Sir W. MITCHELL-THOMSON

The cable between Guernsey and Sark will be repaired as soon as the cable ship has finished the repairs to cables in the North of Scotland on which she is at present engaged. There is no interruption of communication between Guernsey and Alderney. Inquiry is being made as to the practicability of using the service of motor boats referred to by my hon. Friend.
