HC Deb 04 April 1928 vol 215 c1972W
Sir G. DALRYMPLE-WHITE

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he has reached a decision on the question whether foreign-made articles of furniture imported into this country have to carry an inscription under the Merchandise Marks Act showing the country of origin; and, if so, whether such inscription will be required only on the cases in which the articles are packed?

Mr. H. WILLIAMS

I propose shortly to lay before the House a draft Order in Council under the Merchandise Marks Act, 1926, which willinter alia give effect to the recommendations of the Standing Committee with regard to the marking of imported furniture and cabinet-ware.
