HC Deb 21 November 1927 vol 210 c1442W
Colonel DAY asked

the Secretary of State for War whether any arrangement has been come to with the owners of common land who object to the ploughing up of the commons during tank manœuvres?

Sir L. WORTHINGTON-EVANS

The hon. Gentleman is mistaken. No fear need be felt that the commons will be ploughed up either during tank manœuvres or at any other time. The question of user of the commons by the War Department is being considered by a Committee, composed of representatives of the landowners, of public societies interested and of the War Office. No conclusions have yet been reached.
