HC Deb 21 November 1927 vol 210 c1428W
Mr. LANSBURY

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether the British Commission appointed to investigate the working of the reforms in India and the future development of Indian self-government will be empowered to inquire into the relationships existing between the Viceregal authorities and the rulers of Indian States; and will the Commission be able to report as to any modification of the present arrangements or for the absorption of the Indian States into a federation representative of all India and the consequent abolition of all autocratic rule throughout India?

Earl WINTERTON

I will deal with these questions in the course of my general statement in the forthcoming Debate on the Resolutions, which I would ask the hon. Member to await.
