HC Deb 21 November 1927 vol 210 cc1427-8W
Mr. LANSBURY

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether, with regard to the communication he has received from Mr. E. A. Guest, late deputy magistrate and deputy collector of the Indian provincial civil service, Bihar and Orissa Province, containing charges of maladministration against certain officials and also comprising a series of questions which his predecessor in office promised to investigate, such investigation has now taken place; and is it intended to publish the result of such inquiries as have been made?

Earl WINTERTON

Mr. Guest's representations have been considered and rejected on their merits, and my Noble Friend is not prepared to undertake further inquiries about allegations that Mr. Guest makes against other officers. The inquiries made during Lord Olivier's tenure of office were personal inquiries, and their result was conveyed to Mr. Guest at the time.
