HC Deb 21 November 1927 vol 210 c1431W
Mr. LANSBURY

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether it is the rule in India that all Indian princes and rulers must apply to the Indian Foreign Office for passports when desirous of travelling outside India; and whether the Maharaja of Nabha is under any agreement or arrangement with regard to passports other than those which govern all the Indian princes and rulers?

Earl WINTERTON

The answer to the first part is in the affirmative. As regards the second, I would refer the hon. Member to my answer to his question of 14th instant.

Mr. LANSBURY

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether he will place in the Library of this House a copy of the evidence given by all parties to the dispute between the Patiala and Nabha durbars, before the special commissioner, the hon. Mr. Justice Stuart, and a copy of the judgment delivered by the special commissioner of the State; and will he state what part of the agreement entered into between the Maharaja of Nabha and the Government of India made any special provision as to granting passports other than those which govern the granting of passports in the ordinary manner to other Indian princes?

Earl WINTERTON

The Report of Mr. Justice Stuart is a confidential document, and my Noble Friend cannot agree to a copy being placed in the Library of this House.
