HC Deb 21 March 1927 vol 204 cc51-2W
Mr. LANSBURY

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether, in view of the continued falling off in the export trade in Indian hides since the imposition of the export duty in 1919, he has any information as to the intention of the Government of India with regard to the 15 per cent. duty on all Indian hides exported?

Earl WINTERTON

The duty was reduced from 15 per cent. to 5 per cent. some years ago. Provision for its abolition is included in the Finance Bill which is now before the Indian Legislative Assembly.
