§ Mr. W. THORNEasked the Minister of Health if he is aware that the West Ham Poor Law Commissioners have cut away relief from 1,500 families during the last few months; that the families in question are suffering great hardships; and if he intends taking any action in the matter?
Mr. CHAMBERLAINI am aware that there has been a considerable reduction in the number of persons relieved in the West Ham Union. I am not aware that any real hardship has been caused by the action of the guardians, but if the hon. Member will give me particulars of any specific case which he has in mind I will make inquiries.
