HC Deb 02 June 1927 vol 207 cc562-3W
Sir C. CAYZER

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, before proposing the change in the Finance Act, 1928, under which he proposes to cancel the existing arrangements whereby contributions made under covenant to chari- ties over periods of more than six years have been exempt from taxation, he will make careful inquiry to ascertain the views of charitable organisations and the effect which the new proposal will have upon their charitable work?

Mr. CHURCHILL

My hon. Friend's suggestion is one to which I have already given effect. My right hon. Friend the Financial Secretary has received a deputation on the subject, and he and I will carefully examine the representations made upon the subject.
