HC Deb 24 February 1927 vol 202 cc1941-2W

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether, in view of the refusal of the Government of the 'Union of Socialist Soviet Republics to send representatives to the International Economic Conference if it is to be held in Geneva, he will take steps to urge upon the appropriate bodies of the League of Nations the desirability of giving consideration to the invitation made to the Council at its December meeting, by the representative of Holland, to hold the conference at Amsterdam?

In view of the expense and inconvenience involved in holding conferences of this nature elsewhere than at the headquarters of the League of Nations, it has been decided that as a general rule they should all he held at Geneva. His Majesty's Govern ment see no reason for suggesting a de parture from this rule in the ease of the International Economic Conference.
