§ Mr. RENNIE SMITH
asked the Home Secretary how many authorities have appointed special officers in order to administer the sections of the Employment of Women, Young Persons, and Children's Act, 1920, which prohibit the night work employment of young persons in transport and building; and what requirements, 576W if any, are made by the Board in order to secure that these provisions are properly enforced?
§ Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS
I am not aware of any such special appointments. As regards the last part of the question, steps were taken on the passing of the Act to draw the attention of the local education authorities to the provisions of the Act. No complaints of default on their part have been received, and it has not been necessary so far to take any further action in the matter.
