asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is aware that the removal and subsistence allowance circular, dated 16th June, 1926, as applied to the prison and Borstal service in England and Wales, does not apply to the Scottish prison and Borstal service; and will he take steps to bring the Scottish system into line with the English?

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. As to the second part, it appears, on the information before me, that the existing rules applied by the Prison Commissioners for Scotland adequately meet the special conditions of the Scottish Prison Service; but if the hon. Member has any special point in view, I shall be ready to look into it
