§ Commodore KINGThe numbers of the civil staff of the War Office included in Army Estimates for 1913–14 and 1926–27 were approximately 1,600 and 2,100 respectively. These numbers include typists, messengers and cleaners and also Local Audit Staff at outstations, but exclude Metropolitan Police and staff on loan to other Government Departments.
