asked the Minister of Health if he can state, according to the latest information available, the number of families in the borough of Shoreditch whose home consists of one room only; the total number of persons occupying these one-roomed homes; and the proportion this number bears to the total population of the borough?

According to the Census of 1921, the number of private families in Shoreditch Metropolitan Borough occupying one room was 5,830, consisting of 2,325 single person families, 1,805 families of two persons, 1,051 of three persons and 649 of four persons or more. The population enumerated therein was 11,969, representing 11.5 per cent. of the total borough population.
