HC Deb 26 April 1927 vol 205 cc675-6W
Miss WILKINSON

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury what progress has been made with his investigation into the charges of Income Tax evasion made by Mr. J. V. Snaith, of Middles-brough; when the results of such investigations may be expected; and whether, in view of the financial sacrifices made by Mr. Snaith in giving this assistance to the Income Tax Department, some interim award can be made?

Mr. RONALD McNEILL

I cannot yet say when the inquiries into the case referred to will be concluded, nor whether, when the investigation is complete, it will be found that Mr. Snaith is entitled to any reward. in these circumstances, I am unable to authorise the Board of Inland Revenue to make any interim payment.
