Mr. HAYES

asked the Home Secretary how many meetings of the hoard of visitors for Parkhurst convict prison were held during the year 1926; and how many times during that period each member of the board attended?

During the year 1926 the number of meetings held, including special meetings and adjourned meetings, was 26. The number of attendances of each of the 10 members were: 26, 4, 7, 17, 10, 7, 16, 5, 13, 3.

asked the Home Secretary how many concerts and educational lectures were given in Parkhurst convict prison between 1st July, 1926, and 31st March, 1927, both dates inclusive; and what concerts and educational lectures, if any, have been arranged for within the next three months?

During the period in question there were no concerts, two educational lectures, and 13 educational classes. One concert has been arranged for during the next three months, and negotiations for other concerts and lectures are in progress.
