Note (1).—As the above statistics have been prepared from sources of information which in many cases are incomplete, they can be regarded only as a partial statement of the mortality of the populations of the various Colonies, Protectorates, etc., from the particular diseases in question. In extensive territories such as Kenya, Nigeria, etc., where the registration of deaths, when it exists at all, is confined to certain urban areas, the total mortality of the native population from particular diseases cannot be given.
