HC Deb 01 April 1927 vol 204 c1576W
Mr. LOOKER

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether he is aware of the damage caused to the premises of Mrs. Bentley, of Seaview House, Great Wakering, Essex, owing to naval gunfire which takes place in the neighbourhood: and what action he proposes to take in the matter?

Lieut.-Colonel HEADLAM

I am aware that Mrs. Bentley has complained of damage to her property by concussion from gunfire at Shoeburyness, hut I have been unable to accept the suggestion that the damage is attributable to the firing of naval guns, or to authorise any compensation out of naval funds.
