§ Sir K. WOODThe total number of persons in receipt of Poor Law relief in England and Wales on the 13th November, 1926, was, approximately, 2,223,000. This number is 1,160,000 greater than the corresponding number on 15th November, 1924. These figures do not include lunatics in county and county borough asylums, casuals and persons in receipt of domiciliary medical relief only.
