§ Captain HACKINGI have discussed this question with the authorities con1856W cerned, bearing in mind that my Noble Friend intended that the Reports produced by the automatic recorders should be duly edited before publication. In view, however, of the expense involved, and doubt as to whether the use of automatic recorders would result in any considerable reduction of the present staff of reporters, it is not thought desirable to adopt my Noble Friend's suggestion.
