§ Mr. BUXTONasked the Minister of Health if he will give the number of county boroughs and other authorities which have established municipal abattoirs with a monopoly of slaughtering in their area and without such a monopoly, respectively?
Mr. CHAMBERLAINThe number of local authorities in England and Wales which have established abattoirs is about 100, including the councils of about 40 county boroughs. I regret that I have no figures available as to the number of authorities which require all slaughtering to be carried out at municipal abattoirs.
