HC Deb 09 March 1926 vol 192 c2133W
Mr. HAYDN JONES

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he is aware that under the existing regulations the whole cost of the administration of the Tuberculosis Order, 1925, has to be borne by local authorities, and whether he will consider the desirability of making a contribution towards such cost similar to that now made in respect of compensation for slaughtered animals?

Mr. GUINNESS

From the information available I find that the Exchequer's contribution in the case of counties is 52.5 per cent. and in the case of boroughs 66 per cent. of the total expenditure incurred by local authorities in carrying out the Tuberculosis Order. I cannot therefore contemplate asking Parliament to increase the Exchequer contribution towards the expenses of local authorities.
