HC Deb 09 March 1926 vol 192 c2137W
Sir C. WILSON

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury if he is aware that the vouchers or cheques issued to Members for their salary or allowance contain a demand for a receipt stamp to be affixed, contrary to the Finance Act of 1924; and if he will take the necessary steps to put this matter right?

Mr. RONALD McNEILL

Any inconvenience which has been caused to Members in this connection is regretted. It is due to the fact that the Fees Office have been using, and will find it necessary for some time to use, old stocks of cheques printed before the provision of the Finance Act, 1924, became law. It has been arranged that for the future any reference to a receipt stamp shall be deleted.
