HC Deb 09 March 1926 vol 192 cc2139-40W
Mr. CECIL WILSON

asked the Minister of Transport whether he has any in- formation from county councils or otherwise as to the number of bridges which, owing to increased road traffic, are either too restricted or, for other reasons, in need of whole or partial reconstruction; whether any estimate has been made as to the cost of the necessary works; whether he is taking action in regard to the matter, and, if so, what; and what is the total estimated expenditure on such work during the next financial year?

Colonel ASHLEY

Exhaustive information of this character is not in my possession, nor have I the comprehensive estimates desired. I am, however, aiding numerous local authorities to reconstruct weak bridges, and 'expect to give similar assistance next year, though the amount to be allocated for that purpose cannot yet be determined.
