HC Deb 04 March 1926 vol 192 c1642W
Brigadier-General CHARTERIS

asked the Secretary of State for War what is the average cost of each married quarter for the men on the married establishment of the British Army in Egypt; and the proportion of married quarters provided for the total Egyptian establishment?

As regards the first part of the question the cost varies between £350 and £400 according to the locality. The answer to the second part of the question is 75 per cent., or if temporary hutted married quarters are included, 85 per cent. of the married quarters roll in Egypt. Tented accommodation is available for other married quarters roll families who elect to occupy it.
