HC Deb 23 July 1926 vol 198 cc1572-3W
Colonel DAY

asked the Minister of Agriculture if his attention has been drawn to the appearance of potato blight in the Peterborough district, and will he state what action is being taken by his Department with a view to checking this disease?

Mr. GUINNESS

Reports of the appearance of the disease commonly known as potato blight have reached my Department from various parts of the country. The first of these related to the counties of Bedford and Pembroke, and was received early in June. A notice was at once issued through the Press advising farmers to spray their potato crops immediately as recommended in the Ministry's leaflet on the disease. I am sending the hon. and gallant Member a copy of the leaflet.
