§ Colonel DAY
asked the Minister of Pensions if, in view of the results arising from the commutation of war pensions in order to liquidate debts owing to moneylenders, he will take steps, if necessary, to alter the provisions of the Royal Warrant to protect pensioners in this regard?53W
§ Major TRYON
The hon. Member appears to be under a misapprehension as to the position. It is not the practice of the Ministry to sanction commutation of a war pension for the purpose of paying debts, either to moneylenders or to other persons.
