§ Colonel DAYasked the Minister of Health the number of prosecutions instituted for breaches of meat market regulations, requiring the provision of clean covering for meat in transit; the number of convictions secured; and the amount of fines, minimum and maximum, so inflicted?
Mr. CHAMBERLAINI have received information as to 56 prosecutions being instituted for various breaches of Article 21 of the Regulations which relates to the cleanliness of meat in transit; of these, 41 have been heard. Convictions were obtained in all these cases. The maximum penalty imposed was a fine of £25 without costs, and the minimum penalty was the payment of 3s. costs.
