§ Colonel DAYasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies the number of men, women and children who have emigrated to Canada, under the joint British and Canadian Governments' scheme (Empire Settlement Act, 1922), at a fare of £3, together with the number of emigrants for the corresponding period last year?
§ Mr. AMERYThe scheme to which the hon. Member refers came into operation on the 1st January last, and as there is little migration to Canada during the winter, the number who have gone out2158W under the scheme is at present insignificant. I would suggest that the hon. Member should repeat his question in about six months' time.
