HC Deb 11 February 1926 vol 191 cc1257-8W
Colonel DAY

asked the Minister of Pensions what proportion of the 201 women discharged from his Department in December were found situations following communications from his Department to private employers?

Major TRYON

Owing to the fall in the amount of work being less than was anticipated, it has been found necessary to extend temporarily the notices issued to 50 of the clerks who were under notice in December last. I have no precise information in reply to the hon. Member's question, but it is understood that a number of the women who left this Ministry in December have obtained other employment as a result of recommendations made by the Department.
